UNSTABLE WEATHER IN UAE: DUBAI POLICE WARN PUBLIC TO STAY AWAY FROM WATERWAYS AND VALLEYS

Date:

Dubai Police have issued an important public safety advisory as unstable weather conditions continue to affect parts of the UAE. With rain and thunderstorms forecast this week, residents are being urged to exercise extreme caution on the roads and in outdoor areas.

Authorities confirmed they are fully prepared to respond to emergency incidents, especially in mountainous regions and valleys where flash flooding can occur during periods of heavy rain. Traffic accidents are also more likely during wet weather, prompting police to reinforce safety guidelines for motorists.

DRIVER SAFETY DURING RAINY WEATHER

Dubai Police have advised all drivers to reduce speed on wet roads, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, and strictly comply with traffic laws. Reduced visibility and slippery surfaces significantly increase the risk of accidents, making defensive driving essential during adverse weather conditions.

Motorists are also reminded to remain alert, avoid sudden braking, and follow official instructions issued by traffic authorities throughout the UAE.

AVOID WATERWAYS AND VALLEYS

Members of the public have been strongly advised to stay away from waterways, wadis, and valleys during this period of unstable weather. These areas can quickly become dangerous due to sudden water flow and flash floods, even if rainfall appears light in nearby locations.

Crossing valleys or flooded roads poses a serious risk and should be avoided at all times.

MARINE AND SEA SAFETY WARNING

Dubai Police have also issued warnings for boat owners, yacht operators, and sea users. Authorities urge them to closely monitor weather and marine conditions, adhere to safety instructions, and avoid unnecessary sea activities until conditions stabilise.

EMERGENCY CONTACT INFORMATION

In case of emergencies, residents should contact the Command and Control Center at the General Department of Operations by calling 999. For non-emergency assistance, the public can reach authorities on 901.

Weather forecasts indicate that Sunday is expected to be the wettest day of the week, with heavy rain and possible thunderstorms. Residents are advised to stay informed through official updates and prioritise safety at all times.

Stay alert, stay safe, and follow official guidance as the UAE experiences unstable weather conditions.
